Saturday Night Lights

(Key in dream music, with a fog around scene) We arrive at Margarita Ranch in Mockingbird Station, meeting up with friends and family, to eat before the big game of Southlake vs. Miami high school football game. Reid is all ready in his oh so cute baby dragon outfit, and Matt and I have high hopes that he'll make it through the evening game just loving being there. After a delicious Mexican meal we all head over to the SMU stadium, grab some seats for 12 people, and get ready for the big match up. I felt so proud of my alma mater - all the fans were in green and black, ready to support the team. Reid did absolutely fantastic, didn't cry, just sat in our laps, and watched the game from 6:00 until 10:00. Even though the Dragons lost their first game in I don't know how long, we had a great time and Reid loved his first football game. UM, YEAH RIGHT!!! Ok, reality - food was delicious (can't go wrong with Mexican), and Reid did great up until the kick-off! My mom and I alternated holding him in the concession stand area. Matt and I should have known - we have learned that we just can't take him out past 7:00 which is bedtime, but I just thought that he would be distracted by everything going on. Well, he was distracted, but not in a good way. He was so fussy, and we'd get him calm only to have him get worked back up once the crowd would get LOUD. Once he started just screaming, Matt and I decided it was time to leave. So with 5 minutes left until half, we grabbed all of our stuff and made the miles walk to our car. (I kept telling myself, "you're walking off those tacos") We were sweating by the time we got back to our car! We got home, put Reid to bed, put on our comfy clothes and watched the rest of the game on TV. I think we'll wait until he's a little older to let him enjoy a football game in person, and until then, you might not see us out past 7:00. (sorry there was so much blogging!)

Little did we know that this happy face would soon turn sour...

It will get better- eventually! Brett and I took Avery to a high school football game to watch Brett's alma mater and she made it through the 3rd quarter and actually seemed to enjoy it! AND...even if he didn't have fun, he sure looked cute :-)

Don't worry he will grow into it. I took Clayton from little bitty to watch my younger brother play HS football. Clayton was a March baby, too and this time next year he will be very entertained. It gets better from here.

I hear ya sister ... we can't be away from home past 6:30 anymore! We've tried, and it's just not fun. We're slaves to the schedule now. Let me know if you ever want us to watch Reid so ya'll can have a night out past 7! :)

Brian has been wanting to take the boys to a TCU game. I'll have him read your post...Luke and Sam would have done the SAME thing. Guess from what I'm hearing it gets better. Just think back to 5 months ago. See you soon!
