What he did!

So, this morning around 5:30, I hear Reid start crying (Matt had just left about 15 minutes prior because he was wanting to get to work early). I'm walking up the stairs and toward his room, and I'm thinking, "that crying sure does sound close." I open his door and flip on the light real fast so I can see if my suspicions are correct and sure enough, there's Reid on the floor of his room!!! AAGH!!!! He has not even acted like he wanted or could get out of his crib! I have no idea what he did or how he got out. He wasn't hurt, luckily, and I think he was just startled at what had happened. I didn't make a big deal about it, just said, "let's go sleep in momma's bed," and went downstairs, got into bed, and he just curled up next to me and slept for another 45 minutes or so. Instead of feeling just so tired, I tried to just treasure that time when he was so cuddly since those days are becoming few and far between. Luckily Matt and I and our parents are getting him his big boy room for his birthday, but I was wanting to transition him to a bed sometime around June. Guess we'll be doing it a little sooner!!! I just put him down for a nap in his crib, so we'll see how he does!!!

My question is to all you parents who have had this happen - what did you do? Were you able to keep them in their crib for just a little while longer? I really need him to stay in his crib for another 2 or 3 more weeks - until we find out for sure what Baby #2 is so I know which room to put Reid in!

I have no clue! I am planning one watching what everyone else does! I do know a guy at work, his daughter is 18mths and climbed out and one guy said to put a crib net on (not sure how I feel about that) and they ended up just putting a baby gate on her door and putting her in the big bed! Let me know how it goes

my niece started climbing out of her bed and my sister-in-law bought a crib tent. they have them at babies r us. google it. it's not very confining so it was better than what i had pictured. i mean, they can still stand up with plenty of space and stuff. harper loved the tent! ha!

Oh man! I wonder if a crib tent would work...I've heard that they work, even though they're a little funny looking. That could maybe buy you a few months. Let us all know how it goes :)

Mason climbed out of his crib EARLY, just after his 1st birthday!!! I ended up putting the mattress on the floor with the crib over it...if that makes sense...so he was still enclosed in the crib, but the mattress was lower since it was on the floor. The bottom of his crib in the front went all the way to the ground so he was not able to get out from the bottom. That held him for a while longer.

Katelyn also climbed out of her crib but only ONCE. I think it scared her enough to not try it anymore. She must have been around 14-15 months when it happened but we didn't move her to the big bed until 16-17 months (since Mackenzie was coming so soon)! Have you taken out the bumpers? He may be able to use those as a step...

Kylie started climbing out of her crib at 15 months, but there was no putting off the toddler bed because the second time she did it, she landed on her head. I wasn't going to chance that. Rob and I decided to spring for the toddler bed earlier since it was a matter of time anyway (with a gate by her door) and she was just fine!

I'll pray it was a one time thing with Reid! :)

When Kari was little she climbed out of her crib ONE time...it scared her so bad she didn't try it again. If I were you I would continue to put him in the crib. You could try the crib tent....oh an make sure the crib mattress level is set on the lowest one. Hope this helps!!
