Suggestions? Recommendations??

A friend of mine who is having her baby a few days after me recently posted about what to wear in the hospital, and I'm wondering the same thing! I'd love to hear what you couldn't live without, what worked, what didn't, web sites, etc. With Reid, I was in the hospital for a week, and there's a chance I'll be there that long with this one and I don't want to wear the ratty hospital gowns ("gown" being used very loosely) the whole time! Looking back, I'm so embarrassed of how I looked when people came to visit - I think one of my hospital gowns even had a rip in a very inconspicuous spot - so I'm very sorry if I flashed anybody!

Also, I didn't use a sling with Reid, but have a feeling I will with this one. I know people out there are very passionate about what types of slings they love, and please, share the passion! I want a good sling, and one that won't be too hot since I'll be using it during the months of August, September, October, November...I don't know, how long do you use slings??

Thanks for the thoughts!!!

Also, I'm planning on updating my recipe blog...I know, it has been a LONG time!!!

Hey Meredith...Gap Body is one of my favorite places for comfy around the house clothes/pjs. A lot of their items are super soft and stretchy so you can wear them right after you deliver. They also had some really cute sleep shirts (more of a crisper cotton feel with buttons) that I bought in a size bigger that were easy to nurse in because of the buttons and you don't have to lift of your whole shirt. Good luck! Hopefully you won't have to stay too long, although I would have stayed longer had they let me! What other time do you have nurses waiting on you around the clock as well as checking in on the baby :) Hang in there these last few weeks!

Here is a website for some gowns that you can wear at the hospital, they even let me deliver in one. :)

Meredith - I have two hotslings because everyone loved them, but I just find them terribly uncomfortable. I finally invester ($60) in a Baby K'tan because it can grow with you and it balances weight on both shoulders. I HIGHLY recommend it. Its super easy, unlike the wraps (like Moby) as it is all already put together. HTH!!

Hey Sweet Friend! I can't wait to hear what everyone says about this!!! I am wondering the same thing! :)

I don't have any ideas about slings since I didn't use one with Tanner, but there is a super cute one that I have by eye on from Serena & Lilly. I think with baby #2, we may be using it this time around!

As for as hospital attire.... I bought a cute "hospital gown" from Babystyle with Tanner, but unfortunately that store is out of business now. So my sweet mother-in-law is making me one this time. Did you see the one Tori Spelling wore with Stella? So super cute (random, I know)!!! And for the rest of the hospital stay, I had a simple gown & matching robe set from A Pea in the Pod. Someone recommended to me a gown rather than a top & pants since they have to "check" you so much and it is comfy and convenient.

Can't wait to hear what others have to say! :)

I bought nursing pjs with a v-neck from Motherhood that I loved! (not that you would want long sleeve right now, but it was something similar to this). They were so comfy - I plan on buying more next time around!

I had a black pj set from Mimi...it was pants with a v-neck tank that was perfect for nursing and it came with a matching robe. It was maternity, so the robe belted up high which was nice for the after birth tummy. As for a sling, I had a hot sling also, but Hudson HATED it. You are more than welcome to borrow it to see if you like it before you spend money on one. It is the blue and chocolate one. Just let me know!

LOVE hearing everyone's suggestions! You already have more comments than me so I am thrilled to hear what everyone says. Tomorrow is my shopping day to try to nail something down. I'll let you know what/if I find anything!

Hi Meredith! I'm one of those passionate about babywearing so I have to chime in. I LOVED my Moby wrap. I wore Doak in it every day for a few months and he would just snuggle up and sleep in it every time. I also had a pouch sling like a hotsling that worked well for short little trips to stores. I didn't use anything with Addie except the Baby Bjorn but I used some sort of sling or wrap almost everyday of Doak's life up to about a year old.

My favorite thing to wear at the hospital was yoga pants and a nursing tank with a soft hoodie. I had some nursing jammies too but I found they sometimes gaped and made me uncomfortable with guests in the room!

I can't believe baby #2 is almost here. Congrats!

Moby wrap for sure. I still have mine and haven't used it in months. I can bring it for you to have in August - it's black. I really don't think I'l use it again. And I loved Gap Body. I got several things there before Ian and I am wearing some of it right now. I can't imagine you not looking cute!!

Hi, Meredith! I am due at about the same time as you. I bought some cute pjs at a baby boutique that are also for nursing. I think the brand is called mamajamas? I don't have a robe though, and was just planning on using the hospital gowns for delivery. I am kind of wondering about the pjs that I bought now though since they are pants and you do have to be checked a lot. Hmmmm. I love reading everyone else's suggestions, I really feel like going to Gap Body now. :-)

I wore a lot of black and headbands to make it look like I had color on. Trying to look slim, you know. :) And I love my Maya ring sling. It's been great since day 2 and I used it yesterday at 4.5 months in the grocery store. I am planning on continuing to use it as well.

I'm not sure how I got to your blog but anyways, it's cute. I swear by Gap Body PJ's for hospital stays. I've had c-sections for both of mine and loved having GB pjs for the hospital stay. Hope this helps!

I love the motherwear nursing camis and think pairing them with yoga pants and a hoodie is a great idea.

I'm BIG into babywearing! So much better for baby than being put in a swing/bouncy seat all day and so much nicer for mom to have a free set of hands to use to take care of the older kids. I wore both my babies a lot, but especially our little guy so that I could tend to big sister as well. I've tagged most my babywearing posts on my blogs and have a FB album off all my slings/wraps/pouches. I loved a wrap with a newborn, the pouch (although didn't like HotSlings, much preferred Kangaroo Korner) and mei tai for older babies. I still use both the pouch and mei tai with our 15 month old, especially when he's sleepy and we're out and about.

Aimee Nursing gowns (and pj's) are my favorites. You may not be able to wear the pants with a c-section, but it depends on how you recover. Also, my stomach was SO HUGE that it was hard to wear the gown without feeling like a complete whale, so I wore the oh so lovely hospital gowns in the hospital and saved my Aimee's for home wear.
You know that I love my Peanut Shell, but everyone is different. I also have Maya Sling/wrap. I have heard great things about the Ergo carrier though. Especially with chasing a toddler around.

I loved my Peanut Shell for Gabe...didn't really use a sling for Noah. Gabe loved the sling in the very beginning then hated it after about a month. I used the Baby Bjorn at that time. However, once he could hold his head up and was more stable, I used the peanut shell on my hip, and it worked great for the longest time. Gabe loved it! Slings are great because they fold up easily, and they don't take up much space. Just make sure you get one that fits YOU well, otherwise you won't use it. Good luck!
