I will post pictures later - he's currently in his bed fussing because I am determined not to give up the afternoon nap!
**Update - he fell asleep! Now I can play on the computer when I should be cleaning!**
From the 10th month to the 11th month, we are quickly cruising into toddlerdom! Reid is walking everywhere and when we went to Lifetime this morning they told me he's ready to move out of the infant room and into the toddler room! Scary!!! Can he handle himself around the "big kids?" Will he want to play with them? I want to hold onto that infant room and not let him move out! But the child care providers told me that he's getting bored in there and will stand at the little glass door looking out into the toddler room and fuss. So, I guess it's time for him to be among the other tots. I've also seen a temper side to Reid this month. Whenever he doesn't get what he wants, he lets out a loud, high pitched scream - it doesn't matter where we are, he doesn't discriminate - grocery store, restaurants! I don't know what to do about it, should I sternly say, "No, we don't scream," or should I just ignore it? I've done both. I also dread changing his diaper, changing him into pajamas - basically anything that requires him to be flat on his back because that will also elicit another one of his shrieks and then it just gets so dang hard to get that diaper on or whatever because he's rolling all around trying to get out of the position. Luckily teaching taught me patience!
Something that is bittersweet to me is the process of weaning that we are going through. I never thought I'd breastfeed for a year but I have loved it! I know I will miss it, but at least I know that I will do it again for any other kids that we have. However, it will be nice to not be the only one who can feed him (but on the other hand this will be hard to give up!) His first birthday is March 6, but I have to have him completely weaned by the end of March when Matt and I go on our trip. I started with the sippy cup, and just today started with whole milk. He seemed to like it. He's not really drinking a lot but he does love the sippy cup. He's still into his baby food and will start making those "uh, uh, uh, uh..." sounds when he sees me bring out a jar. He also likes to try whatever we're eating, and I'll put different types of foods on his tray for him to eat. I foresee being eaten out of house and home in the future years...
He's babbling all the time and he has started associating "mama" with me and "da" or "dada" with Matt (although it's not all the time) but at least we're FINALLY hearing him say that! In this last month, he has also developed a love of balls (it's ok, I'm chuckling too) and will pick a ball first out of all of his toys. And, while we're on the subject of toys, most go unnoticed in the toy bin because he is way more interested in non-toys such as Lilly's stuff, magazines, remote controls, cell phones, tupperware, toilet paper, pretty much anything he finds when he's exploring the house. I'm just glad that he's gotten better at his balance so I don't have to be RIGHT behind him when he's walking - at least I can actually be in the kitchen while he's in the family room (they connect so I can always keep an eye on him).
I never knew that time flew by so fast until I had a child! I really have to stop myself from wishing away moments and just enjoy each stage. I thank God everyday for a healthy child and pray that it stays that way. Thanks for hanging in there with me for this post! I've decided that my half-finished pregnancy scrapbook will stay that way, not to mention the haven't-even-started baby scrapbook, so I'll print off my blog and make this my scrapbook!

Hi Meredith,
I enjoyed reading your post and it's amazing how time quickly passes. Reid is a beautiful little boy and you all look like a happy family. Best of luck weening him off of the breast and kuddos for doing it this long.
He's a mini You!
Take care,
Jennifer L.
